Animals in nature are very difficult to capture. Here's a few that I have managed in the short time that I've tried to photograph them.

| Over-friendly dolphin in Broad Creek, Hilton Head Island |
 |
| Alligators in Everglades National Park, "Alligator Alley", Florida |
Grey heron fishing in central Georgia
 |
| Young fox kit in southern West Virgina |
 |
| Shy fawn at Lake Norman State Park, North Carolina |
 |
| Friendly rattle snake at Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area, South Carolina |
Red-headed Skink in my back yard in Bluffton, SC
I love the animal pictures. I've encountered many at dolphin in Broad Creek. They're so used to be fed that they'll come up to the boat and let you touch them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful animal pics! Animals, like children, are hard to get to stay still long enough to get that great shot. However, sometimes you can get something wonderful by accident. I really liked your WV fox kit. My father owns ~100 acres in WV, where he recreationally plays farmer/builder/nature enthusiast. When I was young, he was always an avid hunter, especially during deer season; however, now with his land, he regularly corn feeds the deer. Thus, now every time he walks out of his building, the doe come running with their fawns. Most basically come within arm's length of his out-stretched palms of corn. Needless to say, he doesn't hunt much anymore, especially on his own land or even on surrounding lands for fear he might target one of his babies : )! He also frets continuously when one of his regulars don't show up to feed. He is such a softy now : )! I really need to get a camera in his hands for these encounters.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures. I would not have been able to photograph the snake. I would have been moving to far away. The fox kit is a precious photo.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until next week to see more photos! They are always so beautiful and peaceful. As for your "friendly" rattlesnake....aren't they all "friendly" just before they strike?? :-)
ReplyDeleteKathleen took the words right out of my mouth, I don't think there is such thing as a friendly snake. Your pics are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI keep meaning to ask you if you and Mike have taken the Master Naturalist class with Chris Marsh. If you haven't you should! You would both LOVE it! He would LOVE having you both in his class! Once again I think your photos are gorgeous! Let's plan some fun outings after we graduate!
