I decided to venture into an area where I am uncomfortable, photographing life as it happens in the Low Country of South Carolina. There is usually little time to frame up the perfect photo, but you have to take the photo ops where they come - just like life here. Enjoy the photos of fresh crabs which is a huge industry for our area. On this day, refrigeration trucks were waiting to take trucks full of bushel baskets of Blue Crab to Washington D.C and Atlanta GA.

ReplyDeleteTrue picture of coastal life; I love crab legs but I don't think I have ever saw a blue crab. They are almost too pretty to eat...almost.
ReplyDeleteSuch an unfamiliar area for me....I did live on the Calif. coast until I was 7 years old, but other than that, I've had very little experiences with the ocean and the way of life. Maybe that is why I crave it so much. I am in dire need of a trip to the ocean. I need the sounds and smells, the salty, fresh air, and the tranquility of sitting on the shore alone. Love the photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics of life in action. Crabbing is a industry I only know from TV. My husband and I love watching "Deadliest Catch." It is amazing the money that can be earned in such a profession, but the rewards do little to overshadow the extreme danger and labor-intense work that goes into it. I am not a water person myself, but I have an extreme affection for the life and images.
